July 7 , 2021 - Too little, too late

On July 5, the following public notice was issued by Mayor Janice Jackson regarding the Georgian Bay Innovation Group aquaculture facility proposed for 83 Berford Lake Road.

Notwithstanding the fact we made this public on our website on June 8 , this letter does not address concerns about the lack of transparency and closed council sessions with the company prior to their acquisition of the land on Berford Lake Road. When will the minutes of the “in camera” sessions be made public?

Why did the company only issue a statement after they’d been found out?

Both Mayor Jackson and MPP Bill Walker’s offices appear to be backpedaling and dismissive in deflecting genuine concerns and public opposition to this project, yet CC Tatham Engineering in Collingwood has had surveyors on site and on the Berford Lake and Kribs road allowances-right where the company has stated the pipe to Colpoy’s Bay would run.
